This summer Billy and Jack, two Masterchef finalists from 2016 bring their hugely popular supper club experience to the dizzying heights of the Southbank Centre’s 6th floor, with their sponsors Silent Pool Gin. The experience focuses on sharing dishes and small plates, with diners seated at communal tables for that supper club experience. Billy and Jack will be serving up will be offering brunch, lunch, dinner and pre-theatre dining throughout dates in August.

The Marmite butter was amazing, though we probably shouldn’t have treated it like pâté

LDN Life was lucky enough to get to sample a selection from the menu and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Upon entry, we were presented with some delicious and very refreshing cocktails courtesy of Silent Pool. Starters then quickly arrived at the table in the form of sharing plates, with highlights including Cornish shrimp in a brown butter crumbs with sea herbs and some beautiful Hampshire burrata.

However, the absolute stand out dish was a dry aged hanger steak tartare which was perfectly seasoned and flavoured (one downside of sharing is that there was nearly a bun fight over who got to polish off the plate!).

Our picture didn’t do this wonderful dish justice, so here’s the press shot! Yum Yum Yum

The focus dish for the main course was a platter of BBQ lamb served with a number of accompaniments including a spring onion pesto and herbed farro. This dish on the whole was delicious, however, we would have preferred our lamb to be served pinker (that’s more of a personal choice though!).

A dessert of Silent Pool strawberry jelly with clotted cream ice cream and milk chocolate finished off the meal. With the milk chocolate looking exactly like giant jazzies it was a light and summery grown up version of everyone’s childhood favourite of jelly and ice cream.
